List: Top 10 Most Anticipated Games from E3 Part 2

Numbers 5-1

Well, we've reached the top five. These are the games out of E3 that I am the most excited about playing.

5. Super Mario 3DS

Not a whole lot is known about this game (the actual title hasn't been confirmed), but judging by the trailer, and what has been said about this game, it could really be a unique experience. This is a completely original three-dimensional game for the 3DS and not a remake. It is combining elements from the Mario games of the pre-3D days with the modern exploration focused games.

Mario will have the same abilities he has in 64 and Galaxy, but the levels will be linear, and Mario acquires powers and takes damage the way he did in the olden days. Plus, the feel of both kinds of games tend to jump back and forth between both eras. This game is one to keep an eye on in the future, because, well, its Mario! It's always exciting when a  new Mario game is announced.

4. Sonic Generations

I know, putting Sonic above Mario is usually a big no-no, but more information is known about Sonic Generations than then new Mario game plus, this might be the game that brings Sonic back into the land of quality games. Sonic Generations is also unique in that it combines the two kinds of Sonic games together in one to please both kinds of fans. The Sonic of the Sega Genesis era teams up with the modern Sonic we've seen since Sonic Adventure and they go through a Sonic-themed history lesson.

The levels are taken from Sonic games of the past and remade with each play style in mind. The Classic Sonic is completely two-dimensional and focuses more on platforming and things he can do are run, jump, and spin dash. Modern Sonic's levels move between 2D and 3D, and focus on going as fast as possible. Modern Sonic's moves also include the homing attack and speed boost. This could be the game that revives the Sonic series.

3. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

It doesn't seem like The Legend of Zelda could go wrong (excluding the CD-i games, of course). The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the new Wii Zelda game that is to take full advantage of the Wii Motion Plus controller add-on. Everything from the art style, to the new controls, to the different setting show the potential that this game has to be great.

Skyward Sword's use of the Wii Motion Plus gives playes complete control over their sword movements instead of the pre-determined movements that were seen in Twilight Princess. Among the new focus on precise controls and directional movement, the beam attack is also brought back from the eight and sixteen bit games. By holding the sword directly up, it will start to glow and begin charging, and then can be used in attacking. Skyward Sword seems to be shaping up to be one impressive game.

2. Bioshock: Infinite

When Bioshock 2 was released, some felt that it was too similar to the original in terms of gameplay and setting. So, it seems even more appropriate for Bioshock: Infinite to be set in a city in the sky which is a major contrast to a decaying underwater utopia. This game also adds more sci-fi and fantasy elements that the previous games.

Bioshock Infinite is set in the floating city of Columbia in 1912, and its seems to be one step away from all out civil war. The player plays as Booker who has been sent to rescue this girl named Elizabet from captivity in a tower that's being guarded by this enormous bird-like creature that the residence call Songbird. So much mystery in put into these pre-release images and trailers that it makes the hype almost unbearable. What exactly is Songbird? How does everyone acquire these powers? What's with those giant clockwork cyborgs? And how are there rips in space-time? These questions will all be answered next year when the game releases.

1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is one the best games ever and is one of my favorite games of all time. It was the most realistic interpretation of a medieval, fantasy world ever created, and it looks like its sequel is going to beat that. Bethesda's attempts at making everything bigger and better looks like they will be accomplished.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim takes place 200 years after Oblivion  and is the final leg in the events that could trigger the end of the Empire in the land of Tamriel. The game is set just north of Cyrodil in the province of Skyrim where dragons have begun to emerge and terrorize the land. This is the first Elder Scrolls game to incorporate dragons into the game and are featured as gigantic boss battles. Every dragon slain will grant the player the special ability of a dragon shout that has a different power attached to them (and makes gameplay trailers incredibly awesome).

Needed improvements in gameplay from Oblivion are being implemented like a brand new engine, dual wielding, better character animations, and the new Radiant Story system. The Radiant Story system creates random encounters similar to Fallout 3 and Red Dead Redemption and create mini stories for the people involved. Skyrim is the game that I am absolutely most excited about and I can't wait to get my hands on it when it releases on 11/11/11.

That's all of them. There were way too many to fit down into a list of just ten, but I think these are the games that I am going to be looking forward to the most. If you want to, let me know which game impressed you the most, and which ones you give you the most excitement.
