List: Top 5 Favorite Songs from The Legend of Zelda

The Best Tunes

I bet you're wondering what the deal is with these lists, lately. Well, let me tell you that this is necessary. A while back, I made a post about the twenty-fifth anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. It was sort of a last minute post and I didn't do anything really special, so I'm going to do something now. If Nintendo can take the whole year to celebrate, then so can I. The Legend of Zelda has been famous for the wonderful soundtracks in the games. Here I put together a list of my favorite songs from the series. I only have five on the list, even though there are several awesome songs, I had to limit it. So, here are my top five favorite songs from The Legend of Zelda series.

5. Temple Theme-Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

The theme played for the temples in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is the best dungeon music out of any game with dungeon music. It really gives the feeling of majesty, adventure, and danger that is to be experienced within these temples. The first time I heard this theme, it really got me pumped for some monster slaying. By the way, if you decide to play through Zelda II you're going to need awesome music to lighten your spirits, because it  is one difficult game.

4. Dragon Roost Island-The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

It was hard to decide between the Ocean theme or Dragoon Roost Island, but I would have to pick Dragoon Roost Island. It's a real relaxing tune that is different from most Zelda songs given the setting of the game. Dragoon Roost Island is my favorite part of the whole game, largely in part to this delightful little tune.

 3. Song of Healing-The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

The Song of Healing is an interesting arrangement that can sound different with every listen. It is one of the first songs learned in Majora's Mask, and plays a big part in the game. The song is played to heal physical objects as well as restless spirits. Depending on the occasion the Song of Healing can sound somber and haunting or soothing and relaxing. It ultimately helps out every situation it is needed in whether it is to rescue Link and others from the confines of evil masks or to help send others to the afterlife. This is not only a fantastic song for a video game. It's a fantastic song in general.

2. Great Fairy's Fountain/File Select-The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and beyond

This song may be known more for being played at the Great Fairy's fountain, but it is also the music that is played during the file select screen, although it is usually different and more complex at the fountain. It was first heard in A Link to the Past in the file select, but became associated with the fairy's fountain in Ocarina of Time and has been that way since then. It is a song that sounds very magical and fitting for the fairy's fountains. It almost sounds dreamy and soothing as would be the case since the fountain's are a place to heal. After listening to this little melody, it'll probably be trapped your head for a good while.

1. The Legend of Zelda Theme-The Legend of Zelda and beyond except Ocarina of Time

Although absent in Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda Theme has been the main theme song to every game in the series. This is the song that people here when they think of The Legend of Zelda. According to zeldawiki.org, the main theme was written after Shigeru Miyamoto witnessed children pretending to look for a magical stone that would take them to another land. Everyone would say that this is the greatest song out of all of them. It is the adventurous theme to Hyrule, and to everywhere Link will travel.

These are my favorite songs from The Legend of Zelda series. Agree or Disagree? Let me know down below in the comments. Happy twenty-five, Legend of Zelda!
