It's the Thought That Counts
I wasn't able to post this on the actual date, so I'll do it now. In case you've been living under a rock, The Legend of Zelda was released in Japan exactly 25 years ago yesterday. I feel like I should do something to commemorate the occasion, but the only thing I could think of was this. Since I'm not able to do epic drawings that show off almost every character in the series, I'll just tell you about some of my experiences.
Let's see. The first Zelda game I played was Ocarina of Time. The first Zelda game I was actually able to figure out to some degree was the very first one for the NES. I always wondered why the Great Fairy dressed the way she did in some of the games. I still think The Wind Waker is the best of the series, and I am still creeped out by Majora's Mask. Speaking of scary, redeads are the scariest things ever put into a video game next to the man-eating piano in Super Mario 64. Seriously, forget necromorphs and crimson heads. I at least have a fighting chance against those guys, redeads actually paralyze you with fear and prevent you from doing anything while they munch on your brains. The most notable is, of course, the fact that every cartridge or disc the game come on is gold. That is something special. Here's to twenty five more years of exploring the land of Hyrule, and to Nintendo releasing a time line of when these games actually take place.
