The Coolest Stuff from San Diego Comic-Con 2013

The Best Things Shown at This Year's Convention

The San Diego Comic-Con just recently wrapped up, and I've decided to make a short list of my favorite announcements that were made this year. Just like last year, It won't be solely dedicated to video games. It'll be devoted to different areas of geekdom.

Capcom Announces a New Strider Game

It's been a while since a new game in the Strider series has been released. This new game in the series will keep the two-dimensional, side-scrolling action of previous games but add an emphasis to exploration similar to Metroid. I've never had the opportunity to play any of the Strider games, so I'm really looking forward to this game.

How I Met Your Mother's Final Season Trailer

How I Met Your Mother is finally coming to an end next season and the trailer shows what future Ted's children have been doing the entire time he's been telling his story. It turns out they've been listening to him ramble on for eight years and they've had enough of it. It's an amusing trailer that expresses what we've all been thinking, "Get on with it".

Octodad: Deadliest Catch Has the Weirdest Premise

Octodad: Deadliest Catch is about an octopus pretending to be a human. His lie have gone so far that he acquired a human family that he has to fool into believing that he's not an octopus. The player attempts to help Octodad keep his facade by controlling him when he attempts to perform everyday human chores. The catch is that the controls and physics are similar to games like QWOP and Surgeon Simulator 2013 where the player controls each tentacle individually and the physics are excessively real. This formula makes for what looks to be a hilarious, Looney Tunes-esque puzzle game.

The Simpsons Are Crossing Over

It was announced that The Simpsons are going to be crossing over into a couple of other shows later this year. The first is in an episode of Family Guy where the Griffins take a trip to Springfield. The second is in an episode of their own show where they run into the cast of Futurama because Bender is trying to kill Bart to prevent something terrible from happening in the future. I'm a fan of crossovers and I'm a fan of all of these shows, so I can hardly wait for this.

The Next Avengers Villain is Revealed

While it's worth noting the Superman/Batman crossover movie announcement, the biggest news is the reveal of the villain for the next Avengers movie. The next movie will feature the robotic supervillain, Ultron with an origin story that is different from the comics. It comes as a bit of a surprise considering Thanos was teased at the end of the first Avengers movie, but it's now known that he will be in the Guardians of the Galaxy film. Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron releases May 1, 2015.

Do you agree or disagree with my choices? Is there anything I missed that was worth mentioning? Let me know in the comments.
