5 Characters I Want in Super Smash Bros.

Dream Team

Now that the new Super Smash Bros. games have been announced, I feel like I have an excuse to speculate which characters should be playable. The character I was hoping to see the most has been confirmed via a super awesome announcement trailer. So now I want to list five more characters that I believe belong, how they would function, and how likely it is they will be included.

Isaac–Golden Sun Series

Golden Sun's Isaac actually makes an appearance in Brawl as an assist trophy using his "Move" ability that shoves characters off the screen. I believe that Isaac should be promoted to playable character status in the new Smash Bros. games because his abilities are fairly unique compared to most Nintendo characters.

He could use basic sword attacks along with the Psynergy abilities like Move as well as make use of Golden Sun's Pokémon-like creatures known as Djinn. His Final Smash could easily be the games' most powerful attack, Megiddo, which would wipe the battlefield out with an enormous asteroid. The likelihood of Isaac being playable is probably slim as there are already plenty of sword-wielding characters, and he may be too similar to the current Fire Emblem characters. Although, there is still a possibility given Isaac's request by the community.

Knuckles the Echidna–Sonic the Hedgehog Series

If there is any interest on expanding the character list from the previous third-party inclusions, then Knuckles would be an ideal addition. He wouldn't be as fast as Sonic but could do plenty of damage with his fists. He would be one of the more difficult characters to knock out as he could use his gliding and wall climbing abilities to keep him on the field. He could even use his drill and burrowing abilities from the Sonic Adventure games. His Final Smash could be some kind of variant of Sonic's "Super Sonic" Final Smash from Brawl.

It may be a greater possibility for Knuckles to be included given his fighting nature within the Sonic games which just makes sense for Smash Bros. However, the game's creative director, Masahiro Sakarai, has stated that he doesn't want to go overboard with the third-party characters, so I believe he may only want one character from each third-party series. If that were the case, and Sonic were to return, then Knuckles would be left out.

ZoroarkPokémon Series

The Pokémon series cycles through new batches of monsters to represent the games everytime a new generation of games is released. Pikachu will always be the head mascot of the series, but others like Mewtwo and Lucario act as secondary mascots for the generation they were introduced. The same goes for Zoroark, who was introduced as a representative of the current generation of Pokémon games and would be a worthy inclusion to the Smash Bros. roster.

Zoroark could use its claws as basic attacks and various dark type moves as special attacks. Since its special ability is the power of illusion, this could be worked in with its moveset. Its Final Smash could be its signature move, Night Daze, which could deal a load of damage to everyone on the field and stun them, setting them up to be knocked off the stage. Zoroark could be the most likely addition to the game as it would be following a trend of including "secondary mascots" like Mewtwo and Lucario. Although, it would be likely that Zoroark would replace Lucario, just as Lucario replaced Mewtwo. But, if you ask me, it could just not replace Lucario and replace Jigglypuff instead. That'd be cool.

Ghirahim–The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

The creepiest weirdo in the entire Zelda series would be a perfect fit for the Smash Bros. line-up. Ghirahim is the self-proclaimed Lord of Demons and the main antagonist of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. He has superhuman strength and agility and a longer tongue than Gene Simmons.

In Smash Bros., Ghirahim could act as a more agile counterpart to Ganondorf with a wider reach. His attacks could make use of his swordsmanship and demon powers. He could use projectiles like phantom swords and make use of his teleportation ability. He could even be given a counter ability similar to Marth's. His Final Smash could be a combination of Link's and Ganondorf's Final Smashes where he reaches his final transformation and blasts other players off the screen with an enormous sword strike. I would say that it may be likely for Ghirahim to be included. The game's announcement trailer and screenshots on the website showed fighters in Skyward Sword's hub city, Skyloft, so with the addition of this stage may come Ghirahim as well. If included, he may replace Toon Link as having five Zelda characters may over-represent the series.

Paper Mario–Paper Mario Series

Paper Mario is the flat, two-dimensional version of Mario and the star of the Paper Mario games. He has different abilities than regular Mario, and usually teams up with characters other than Luigi. His inclusion in Smash Bros. would be similar to Dr. Mario in Melee accept with a larger difference between him and the original Mario.

Paper Mario could be a lighter version of Mario, but with more emphasis on his hammer and jumping abilities. He could make use of stickers, badges, and his different partners seen throughout the series. It would also be neat if he could deal extra damage when a button is pressed right before the attack lands. He could probably even transform into a paper airplane or paper boat for better maneuverability. His Final Smash could be any one of the ridiculous, screen-filling, super attacks that he usually acquires. It would be fairly possible for Paper Mario to make a playable appearance, but like I said before, five characters from one series may be too many which could keep Paper Mario out.

Do you agree or disagree with my choices? Do you have anybody else to add? Let me know in the comments.
