The Coolest Stuff from Comic-Con 2012

The Best Things from This Year's Convention

I'm going to take a semi-break from the usual video game posts to show you a handful of the best stuff shown at this year's San Diego Comic-Con International. This post won't be all about video games as I'll be showing a little bit of everything the convention had to offer. So, take a look below to see my favorite things from this year's show.

Marvel's List of Phase 2 Movies

Marvel announced information regarding their Phase 2 movies, the next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They revealed the titles and logos for Ant-Man, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World, and of course Iron Man 3. Along with this, they announced the making of a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which means we finally get to see a movie with Rocket Raccoon in it.

A Surprise Visit at an Iron Man Costume Contest

A group of young Iron Man fans received a special visit from none other than Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., during a costume contest devoted to the super hero. Downey Jr. then proceeds to declare himself the winner. It's kind of funny. Check out the video above for yourself.

The Walking Dead Season 3 Trailer

Despite some frustrating moments in the second season of the ridiculously popular AMC show, I'm still excited to see what's next for the survivors. Season 3 will be based on the stories in the comic that really made the series what it is. Some fans may be starting to tune out, but it seems like it's the best time to be watching The Walking Dead

Fortnite Looks Totally Awesome

The first game from Epic to not be Gears of War seems to be all about Minecraft and zombies. Fortnite will be the first game to use Epic's Unreal Engine 4 and will require players to go out into the world during the day and hunt for materials to build their forts to protect themselves from the evil "husks" at night. It looks to me like Minecraft mixed with the popular "Zombie" mode from Call of Duty. The game comes out on PC in 2013.

Deadpool Finally Gets His Own Game

The greatest news I heard from Comic-Con this year was that Deadpool is finally starring in his own video game, and not sharing the spotlight with anybody else. High Moon Studios, the developers of the last three Transformers games, will be developing Deadpool and, judging by the trailer, will feature all kinds of crazy action and breaking the fourth wall. I've loved seeing Deadpool in the smaller roles he's had in games like Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, but it'll be just wonderful to see him in the center stage.

Those are my favorite things to come out of Comic-Con this year. There were actually quite a few noteworthy announcements and awesome moments this year. All the cool stuff that was announced and shown this year might have made it one of the better Comic-Cons in recent years.
